Wireless: Basic Settings

Note: After you have made your changes, click Save to apply your changes.

Extender IP address

Select the mode of configuration.

Automatic Configuration - DHCP

If you connect using a dynamic IP address or cable modem, keep the default, Automatic Configuration - DHCP.

Static IP

To use a fixed IP address to connect to the Internet, select Static IP.

Internet IP Address:

Enter the IP address provided by your ISP.

Subnet Mask

Enter the subnet mask.

Default Gateway

Enter the gateway IP address.

DNS 1-3

Enter the DNS server IP address(es) provided by your ISP.

Network Name (SSID)

Enter the name of your wireless network.

Channel Width

Select the radio channel width for your Wireless-N devices.

Security Mode

Select the security option for each wireless network.
Note: This list ranks the encryption options.
WPA2 - Strongest
WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode - WPA2: Strongest; WPA: Strong
WEP - Basic

WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode / WPA2 Personal

Passphrase: Enter a passphrase of 8-63 characters.

WEP

WEP is a basic encryption method, which is not as secure as WPA.
Encryption: Select a level of WEP encryption.
Passphrase: Enter a passphrase to automatically generate WEP keys. Then click Generate.
Key: If you did not enter a passphrase, enter the WEP key(s) manually.
TX Key: Select a default TX Key to use.

Extender Name

Enter the extender name to be used by NetBIOS.

Friendly Name

Give your device a friendly name. This is how other devices in your network will identify it.

Reboot

Click this option to restart your Extender.Note: If you have changed any settings on this screen, click Save Settings before you use the Reboot option; otherwise you will lose your new settings.
