This Privacy Policy addresses the protections we have implemented to ensure that any information submitted by our customers is protected from disclosure and only used responsibly by 2Wire. This policy applies to product registration information, usage data collected via the Gateway console user interface, and system data collected for use with network support servers, also known as the Component Management System (CMS).
Information About Your GatewayWhen you activate your Gateway, a connection will automatically be established to communicate with the 2Wire Component Management System. Gateway-specific data (hereinafter referred to as “Gateway Information”) is sent to 2Wire and stored in the Component Management System to better serve you in the event that your Gateway requires support. The following Gateway Information is provided to 2Wire upon activation and on a periodic basis for support purposes:
- Gateway serial number
- Gateway hardware version
- Gateway software version
- Key code, which specifies your ISP configuration information
- Current Broadband IP address
This Gateway Information is not shared with any third party outside of 2Wire and will only be used by 2Wire to:
- automatically notify you of software updates, new features and/or services;
- restore your current Gateway configuration, if you should choose to upgrade to a different Gateway; and/or
- assist us in providing you with the highest level of technical support possible, in the event that you experience any problems with your Gateway.
Information About You
When you register your Gateway, you may be required to provide certain information such as your First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Country, Home/DSL Phone Number, Email and a Customer Account Code (provided to you by your Internet Service Provider or ISP) where applicable (hereinafter referred to as “Customer Information”). The type and amount of Customer Information required will vary, depending upon the ISP from whom you purchased your Gateway. The email address is used to notify you of software upgrades, premium services, enhanced services and new beta programs, as they become commercially available. The Customer Account Code is used to activate any additional enhanced services that you purchase from your ISP.
Unless you specifically agree (as indicated below) this Customer Information is not shared with any third party outside of 2Wire and will only be used by 2Wire to:
- automatically notify you of software updates, new features and/or services;
- assist us in providing you with the highest level of technical support possible; and
- activate newly purchased services.
Sometimes, we may specifically ask for additional information about you when you sign up to use a new service or when you order a new 2Wire product. The requested information, such as name, Internet address or screen name, billing address, type of computer, or credit card number will be used to provide the requested service or product. If you specifically agree, 2Wire may also use your contact information to let you know about additional products and services in which you might be interested. You can choose not to receive such information by letting 2Wire know on the registration screen when you sign up for the product or service. For example, when you register your Gateway, you will see the following messages:
Message #1
Please notify me via email when software upgrades, enhanced features, or premium services are available.
The checkbox next to Message #1 is automatically checked. If you delete the check in this box, 2Wire will not send you any unsolicited communication, including notifications of 2Wire software upgrades, enhanced features, or premium services. We strongly encourage you to keep this box checked so that we can let you know when important fixes and/or significant improvements have been made to the software that runs in and/or with your Gateway.
Message #2
You may share my contact information with other companies selling related products and services.
If you check the checkbox next to Message #2, 2Wire may share your contact information, including your email address, with our select group of partners. Your contact information could then be used to send you promotional information about related non-2Wire products and/or services in which you may be interested. If you do not check the checkbox next to Message #2, 2Wire must keep all contact information that you provide during the registration process confidential and may not provide it to any third party.

The checkbox next to Message #3 is automatically checked. Beta programs are for 2Wire developed products and/or services only and will not include offers to participate in any beta programs for any third party products.
Note: The 2Wire Gateway does not have the capability to communicate with the Component Management System in order to track or log user profiles based on content viewed and sites visited.
